Behind the Walls: Bringing a New Home's Plumbing to Life

Essential Craftsman is a YouTube Channel with almost 1.4 million subscribers, and recently, they’ve teamed up with Gerber for their most recent house build.

In the world of home construction, plumbing plays a crucial role in turning a house into a functional living space. Gerber products were featured in a new build, where the process of getting the plumbing just right was broken down into three essential stages: rough-in, top-out, and trim-out.

The Rough-In Stage is where it all begins. This initial phase focuses on installing all the plumbing that goes under the floor. The goal is to get this part done while everything is still easy to access. From there, we move on to the Top-Out Stage. Here, the plumbing extends up through the walls and out of the house. This phase includes installing drains, vents, gas lines, and water lines, as well as any necessary support for future fixtures.

Finally, we arrive at the Trim-Out Stage—the point where everything comes together. This is when the fixtures are installed and connected to the plumbing system. In this particular project, we saw everything from a stainless-steel utility sink to a state-of-the-art water heater that promises endless hot water, perfect for a family with four kids.

A standout in this project was the use of Gerber fixtures (although we may be a bit biased). From faucets to toilets, our products were praised not only for their design and functionality, but also for their reliability. Essential Craftsman took note of the intricate process behind manufacturing these fixtures—highlighting the expertise, engineering, and supply chain coordination required to produce something as seemingly simple as a faucet.

The Kinzie® Bridge Kitchen Faucet took center stage as the crown jewel of the home, not only because of its central location, but also due to the striking Brushed Bronze finish and unique design inspired by industrial ball valves.

The project also featured a custom, hand-carved limestone sink. A true work of art, which found its perfect home in the half-bathroom. It was a special moment for Essential Craftsman, who had been holding onto this sink for years, waiting for the right opportunity to showcase it.

This project serves as a reminder of the complexity and craftsmanship involved in bringing a new home’s plumbing to life. We're proud to have been a part of it and excited to see our fixtures helping to make this house a home. Watch the full project here.
