Certifications and Standards

MaP ®

In 2002, a group of 22 organizations in Canada and the U.S. contributed funding to develop a program that would test and rank toilet models based on their flushing performance and publish the test results – thus enabling consumers to base their buying decisions on flush performance.  This testing program is called Maximum Performance, or MaP, testing. Performance is rated from 250 grams – 1,000 grams of waste removal.

MaP® Premium

MaP ® Premium: MaP Premium is a designation assigned to toilets that demonstrate exceptional performance AND water conservation. MaP Premium products are certified by the EPA’s WaterSense® program, have an effective flush volume of no more than 1.10 gallons/4.0 litres (14% below the WaterSense requirement), and have a MaP flush performance score of at least 600 grams (170% of the WaterSense requirement).

ICC/ANSI A117.1. (ADA Compliant)

ADA, or Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design (ICC/ANSI A117.1), simply put means that the products sporting this label are engineered to fit within documented requirements as specified in the ADA standards and ensure public spaces are accessible and functional for use based on a broad range of abilities.

WaterSense®

The WaterSense program is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that labels water-efficient products and is a resource for helping consumers save water. WaterSense-labeled products are certified to use at least 20% less water, save energy, and perform as well as, or better than, regular models. While the WaterSense program is not mandated nationally, several states, cities, and other jurisdictions require WaterSense consumption levels.

High-Efficiency Toilet

Under U.S. Federal law, newly manufactured toilets must not use more than 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf). High-efficiency toilets (HETs) go beyond the standard and use 1.28 gpf, a 20% savings (6 liters v. 4.8 liters).

Ultra High-Efficiency Toilet

Ultra high-efficiency toilets go a step further than high-efficiency toilets and use 1.1 gallons per flush (4.16 litres) or less.

Lead Free

Gerber® faucets are designed to meet or exceed the stringent standards and regulations limiting harmful substances in drinking water. All Gerber bathroom & kitchen faucets are certified to meet current NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 & NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-9 Q ≤ 1 standards.

ASSE 1016 Compliant

ASSE 1016 is a standard developed by the American Society of Sanitary Engineering. This standard defines stringent product performance criteria for automatic compensating valves, such as Gerber’s Treysta® platform, to ensure proper compensation when there are sudden pressure or temperature changes.

ASME

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) serves the engineering community through quality learning, the development of codes and standards, certifications, research, conferences and publications, government relations, etc. The plumbing industry has adopted the ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1 and ASME A112.19.14 (for dual flush toilets), issued jointly by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Canadian Standards Association, for minimum product requirements.

IAPMO

The International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) community of plumbing experts plays a vital public health role in assuring access to clean water and sanitation. Gerber uses IAPMO to test and certify our products in regards to BOTH the product’s performance standard AND the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).
